Anxiety Disorder

Natural Cures for Anxiety, what are the symptoms of Anxiety, symptoms of mild anxiety attack, causes

Before we look at some home remedies for anxiety disorder let’s begin with a quick definition and a description of some common symptoms.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety can be described as an individual's response to what they interpret to be a worrying of fearful situation.

What are the Symptoms of Anxiety?

We all experience anxiety every now and again, it is a natural reaction by our bodies to increase alertness and assist us in moments of danger.

Adrenalin rushes round the body and produces what is known as a fight or flight response. When anxious feelings occur frequently and become overwhelming causing an exaggerated startle response or affect the sufferer’s ability to have a normal functioning life this could well be a sign of an anxiety disorder.

It can sometimes be difficult to establish if you are suffering from an anxiety disorder or are just experiencing some natural expected symptoms of anxiety due to stressful situations.

To help answer this question there are two renowned tests that can be taken, which allow you to measure the severity of your anxiety.

The Beck Anxiety Inventory and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale. If you would like more information on these and would like to try the actual tests just click the link at the bottom of this page.

Physical Symptoms of Anxiety Attacks

Anxiety Disorder, anxiety attack symptoms, physical symptoms of anxiety attacks, what is anxiety Physical symptoms of anxiety attacks may include a rapid heartbeat, palpitations, being short of breath, stomach butterflies, hyperventilation, feeling faint, dizziness, blurred vision, shaking, tingling in hands and feet and sweaty palms.

Symptoms of mild anxiety attacks could include any of these but usually to a milder extent and for a lesser period of time. Besides the physical symptoms of anxiety attacks there are also some emotional and behavioral symptoms which we will look at now.

Emotional and Behavioral Symptoms of Anxiety Disorder

As well as affecting you physically anxiety and panic attack disorders can have a devastating emotional and behavioral effect. People who suffer from anxiety and panic disorders can have difficulty concentrating, sleeping and communicating.

They may also suffer from intense fear, worry, a feeling of being out of control, being unable to cope, loss of appetite, depersonalization, feeling the need to escape the current situation and an impending feeling of doom.

Anxiety and panic attack suffers sometimes try and avoid situations that they believe might trigger an attack. This can create a vicious circle as the more they manage to avoid a situation the more they stenthen their fear of it, therefore increasing the chance of suffering an attack when next faced with that situation. They in fact condition themselves to be fearful of it.

Causes of Anxiety Attacks

So what are the causes of anxiety attacks?

Anxiety attacks are caused by the body’s reaction to a perceived threat whether real or imagined. People who suffer from an anxiety or panic disorder may have been subjected to ongoing stress or been involved in, or witnessed a horrific event.

The causes of anxiety attacks have also been linked to subconscious conflict and biochemical imbalances. Drug and alcohol withdrawal can cause anxiety attacks as can cases of low blood sugar levels and a lack of vitamin B.
